A Flash of Nature

Miles away from this civilisation proud
Away, away from the maddening crowd
I ran away from this modernity of ours
To gaze at the sky ... Oh! Full of stars
Lowering my eyes at the hills yonder
My mind was filled with childlike wonder
The undulating terrain green and bright
The dancing shadows playing with light
The mountain stream all bathed in white!
I gazed and gazed, enraptured in love
The Nature's romance from the heavens above.

Like the jarring note of a concert
Crept in doubt, I dare not desert
Inside my mind just one thought whirled
The Vedantic truth of a dreamlike world
The tiny electric impulses to my brain
Impinged on my senses this refrain
What if all that I perceived in front
Is not real but the mind's figment
What if all that my eyes did confront
Is but a mere game of thought?
